History


The Army Air Force Green Banana Badge was unofficially designed and produced by the C46 and C47 pilots of the Central Africa Division of the Air Transport Command who ferried supplies and ammunition to the China-Burma-India theatre of war. The Division would often bring back supplies from Central Africa, including green bananas. Authorization was never granted for the wear of the Wings.
