History
The Air Force Navigator/ Combat Systems Officer/ Observer Badge was initially created as the Air Force Navigator/ Observer Badge in 1951 which superseded the United States Army Air Forces Navigator Badge established during the Second World War (see USA496). The Badge was renamed the Air Force Navigators/ Combat Systems Officer/ Observer Badge in 2009. The Wings are awarded to Navigator and Combat System Officers in recognition of aeronautical training.
The Wings are awarded in Basic, Senior, and Master grades. The Senior Wings feature a star surmounting the badge while the Master grade features a star superimposed on a wreath surmounted the badge.
There are multiple versions of the Basic Wings which vary by composition.
