History
The Medal for Chilapa (Medalla por Chilapa) was authorized by the state of Guerrero, Mexico in recognition of the enlisted men and citizens who fought against the imperial French forces during the twenty-day siege in the town of Chilapa in November of 1864.
There were authorized three grades, Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and Bronze Medal. However, it is not clear if the composition denotes the rank of the recipient.
The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "He defeated the Traitors and their Allies in November 10, 1864," and a reverse inscription that can be translated to "The Guerrero State to Its Brave Sons."
