History

The Order on May 17th is a decoration of Cuba, to reward agricultural merit. It is granted by the Council of State, following the proposals made by the National Bureau of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP). The order is named after the Day of the Cuban Peasant, which commemorates the murder of the farmer leader Niceto Pérez, which occurred in 1946.
