    History

Queen Elizabeth introduced this order in 2000, to recognize a career of exceptional service displayed by the men and women of the Canadian Police Services. It is based on “exceptional merit through contributions to policing, community development and fostering relationships among police forces in Canada and throughout the world and between police and the community.” The Order is comprised of three grades: Commander, Officer and ...   Member. There is no maximum number of awards, however, the Governor-General may not appoint more than .001% of the average number of police force members of the previous year.

The Officer is conferred upon a police forces person for outstanding service in duties of responsibility. This person may use the post-nominal "OOM." The badge is 40mm wide.
