History

This medal is conferred upon Barbados Defence Force military personnel in recognition of long, faithful service.

When awarded without a clasp, this medal recognizes 15 to 25 years of service. When awarded with 1 clasp, it recognizes 25 to 30 years of service; 2 clasps recognize 30 to 35 years of service; 3 clasps recognize more than 35 years of service.

The obverse suspension bar is inscribed "DEFENCE FORCE".
