History

The Order of Arnulfo Arias Madrid was instituted in 2006 to reward Panamanian citizens and foreigners in recognition of meritorious services displayed for the benefit of democracy, literature, science, humanities, and arts within the country.

The Order consists of Grand Collar, Grand Cross, and Grand Officer.

Arnulfo Arias Madrid (1901-1988) was a Panamanian politician, physician, and writer. He ruled the country three different occasions, but he was overthrown each time.
