History
Established on November 15, 1930, the Order of Military Merit (Orden del Mérito Militar) is conferred upon members of the Dominican Army, in recognition of extraordinary service and exceptional merit during the performances of their duties.
It is awarded with four classes that denotes the rank of the recipient. I Class is awarded to Generals, II Class is awarded to field Officers, III Class is awarded to company grade officers and cadets, and IV Class is awarded to enlisted men.
Each class is awarded in three divisions according with the service rendered by the recipient. Red ribbon demotes combat or war service, Blue ribbon denotes long and faithful service, and White ribbon denotes other service.
