History
Established on August 3, 1952, the Order of Air Merit (Orden del Mérito Aéreo) is conferred upon members of the Dominican Aeronautical Army, in recognition of extraordinary service and exceptional merit during the performances of their duties.
It is awarded with four classes that denotes the rank of the recipient. I Class is awarded to Generals, II Class is awarded to Senior Officers, III Class is awarded to company Junior Officers and cadets, and IV Class is awarded to enlisted men.
Each class is awarded in three divisions according with the service rendered by the recipient. Red ribbon with white centre stripe denotes combat or war service, Blue ribbon with white centre stripe denotes long and faithful service, and White ribbon with red centre stripe denotes other service.
