The Order of Heroism Captain General Santana is conferred upon members of the Dominican Armed Forces in recognition of meritorious service and acts of heroism. It consists of five grades; Special Class, I Class, II Class, III Class, and IV Class. The IV Class was created on December 14, 1954. There is not information regarding with the date of inception of this Order.
The Order was named in honor of Pedro Santana (1801-1864), first President of Dominican Republic in the XIX century.
It has been seen awarded with different ribbon color; blue, red, and white. Probably recognizing various kind of merit. This information is not confirmed.
Before 1959, the Order was manufactured by Antigua Vilardebo y Riera in Cuba.
