History

The Order of National Congress and the Order of Democracy (Orden del Congreso Nacional y Orden de la Democracia) are awarded to national and foreign citizens in recognition of outstanding service in support of democracy and friendship among nations.

The Order is separated into two divisions; Order of National Congress and Order of Democracy. The badges of the two divisions are identical, except for the motto on the obverse. The grades are the same as well, they are: Extraordinary Grand Cross, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, and Knight.
