Physical Description

The Knight consists of an enameled ball-tipped red five-pointed star with gilt laurel wreath between the quadrants. The obverse medallion is enameled bearing the Chilean coat of arms.

History

The Decoration of the President of the Republic is awarded to Chilean and foreign military personnel for outstanding services rendered to the security and defense of Chile and have demonstrated acts of discipline, intelligence, solidarity, commitment and honor while doing so.

It was authorized with five grades that are awarded by ranks. The awards are enameled with the color of the branch where the recipient belongs to ...  ; red enamel is for the Army, deep blue is for the Navy, and light blue for the Air Force. The award features two crossed swords in the quadrants for the General in Chief of the Chilean Armed Forces.

The Knight is conferred upon Officer who has graduated with oldest military career.
