History
The Order of the Star of Comoro was established by Sultan Thibe Achmet of Comoro in 1896 and revised in 1910. From 1959-1975, the Order was awarded simultaneously by Prince Ibrahim and Prince Houssein, but it has been awarded by one member of the princely family since the death of Prince Ibrahim in 1975.
It is conferred upon Comorian citizens in recognition of meritorious civil or military service.
There are two versions of the Order that differ in design. The first version was awarded in three classes and features a design entirely in silver. The second design was introduced when the Order was revised and expanded to five classes in 1910. This version features a design in silver and enamel. The medallions feature an Arabic cypher.
There was an annual limit of 36 Knights from 1886-1910.
