History
This Medal was established by Emperor Haile Selassie I in 1943. It was awarded to Ethiopians in recognition of aid provided to Ethiopian refugees who were exiled as a result of the Italian invasion. It could be awarded multiple times to the same recipient in which case a bronze torch ribbon clasp was worn to denote each additional award.
The obverse and reverse feature Amharic inscriptions in Ge’ez script that can be translated to "The star led them, 1935,” and “ Hope established in faith is a proven instrument of victory,” respectively.
