History

This Medal was established by in 1923 as the the highest military decoration of Imperial Ethiopia. It was conferred upon military personnel in recognition of gallantry and outstanding leadership during conflict. It could be awarded multiple times to the same recipient, in which case a bronze palm clasp was worn on the ribbon to denote each additional award.

The obverse features an Amharic inscription in Ge’ez script that can be translated to "Luminous Star of Victory,” and the reverse features the inscription “1923.”
