History
The Medal of Honour of Local Authorities was established by Decree on November 26, 2003. It is awarded to personnel of local authorities for long and faithful service.
It is awarded under regular circumstances for 14 years of service, or 10 years of service with 2 letters of congratulations. It may be awarded under exceptional title to prison personnel with 5 years of service and a minimum of 4 letters of congratulations, to those who have incurred an injury during service, or to foreigners who performed an act of bravery to the benefit of the community. It may also be awarded posthumously to those who died as a result of an act of bravery performed during service.
The obverse inscription translates to “Medal of Honour of Prison Security, Honour, Devotion, Loyalty,” and the reverse inscription translates to “Burkina Faso, Unity, Progress, Justice.”
