History

The Medal of Honour is awarded to Algerian military personnel for 25 years of extraordinary service and may be awarded posthumously. It may also be awarded to foreign military personnel for building and strengthening international military relationships with Algeria.

Recipients of the Medal of Military Merit and the Medal of the National People's Army are ineligible to receive this award.

When awarded to Algerian military personnel, the ribbon features an embroidered bronze star.
